Meet Cheryl Owens!

For 45 years, she has been a steady and caring presence at Prowers Medical Center, serving as an LPN in the Emergency Room. Cheryl’s days are filled with direct patient care—taking vital signs, starting IVs, and administering both oral and IV medications. She also plays a unique role on the team, working the 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. shift to provide overlapping coverage with the night crew, making sure there’s never a gap in patient care.

Over the decades, Cheryl has touched countless lives, and the gratitude she receives from patients is what keeps her motivated. “I enjoy taking care of the patient,” she shared. “It makes me happy when I see someone in our community that I have cared for and they give me a hug and tell me how grateful they are because I helped them feel better.” Those moments of connection remind her why she chose this path so many years ago and why she continues to show up with the same dedication today.

Outside of the hospital, Cheryl enjoys quieter pastimes that let her unwind. She loves reading, doing needle crafts, and even a bit of sewing. Her commitment to care extends beyond Prowers Medical Center as well—she has also served as a DOT urine drug and alcohol collector with Specimens Unlimited for nearly 25 years.

After more than four decades in the ER, Cheryl has seen it all, yet her heart for her patients and her community has never wavered. Her experience, compassion, and steady presence make her not just a member of the Prowers Medical Center team, but a true cornerstone of the care it provides.
