Press Release
Due to Hurricane Helene damaging a Baxter International factory in North Carolina, which is responsible for producing 60% of the nation’s intravenous (IV) fluid supply, there is currently an ongoing national shortage of IV fluids.
Prowers Medical Center’s number one priority is patient safety. Our team has implemented conservation measures to ensure IV fluids are available for all patients who need them.
While our hospital has received some partial shipments and implemented stringent conservation measures, our current supply is challenged. Our team will continue to meet weekly to address this evolving situation.
If you have any questions about how the shortage may impact your care at our facility, please contact our Patient Advocate, Heath Perdue, RN, at (719) 336-6720.
