The focus of care at Prowers Medical Center is to provide patients and their families a "choice" for personalized healthcare. William Alexander, General Practice Physician has joined the Healthcare Team at Prowers Medical Center. General Practice Physicians provide primary family care to patients with healthcare needs ranging from pediatrics to adult medicine. Dr. Alexander will treat acute and chronic illnesses and provide preventive care andhealth education to all ages and both genders. Dr. Alexander is finalizing arrangements for his relocation to Lamar and will begin his practice after Labor Day. Karen Donkel, Nurse Practitioner Karen has joined the Healthcare Team at Prowers Medical Center. She will be available for patient care in our Lamar Medical Clinic, Convenient Care Clinic, Sunrise Health Clinic and the Las Animas Family Practice. Sunrise Health Clinic The morning version of our popular Convenient Care Clinic is now open Monday through Friday 7:00 - 9:00 am. In September we will be expanding operations further with a Saturday morning Sunrise Health Clinic from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Walk-in clinic - No appointment necessary. $5 Sports and Camp Physicals We provide $5 Sports and Camp Physicals through our Convenient Care Clinic year round. The service is available on a walk-in basis - No appointment necessary. Outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Prowers Medical Center was the recipient of a grant from the Caring for Colorado Foundation to develop an Outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. We have set a target date of September 15th to begin prividing this patient care service. Watch for updates on our progress! Electronic Patient Registry Prowers Medical Center has been awarded a grant from the Health Services and Resources Administration (HRSA) to develop an electronic patient registry. The purpose of the initiative is to improve access to primary healthcare services for patients with Diabetes and Cardio Vascular Disease; to improve efficiency of care, timeliness of care and clinical outcomes - all by utilizing the technology of an Electronic Patient Registry. The Electronic Patient Registry will be developed and maintained by Prowers Medical Group. Lithotripsy Comes Back to PMC Prowers Medical Center has recently added lithotripsy to its outpatient services. Lithotripsy utilizes shock waves to break up kidney stones. Improved Laboratory Service Beginning in September (after Labor Day) Prowers Medical Center will have a patient registration staff member in the clinical Laboratory from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, Monday through Saturday to register laboratory patients. This improved service will provide for "one-stop-shopping" for our laboratory patients. During these hours patients can report directly to the laboratory, register for care and have their blood drawn. FREE Prostate Cancer Screening Clinic This annual event will be provided at the Prowers Medical Center Outpatient Clinic on Friday, September 24th from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
